A family of seven is believed to have died in Thursday night’s attack
by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen in yet another gruesome
attack on a southern Kaduna village. One of those reportedly killed in
the attack was one Sunday Abin, said to be a security guard with Robber
Research Department of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, in Manchok,
his wife and two children.
The assailants, said to be about 20, were said to have set the house of one Kafwai Banta on fire. He was, however, said to have escaped with his family.
The state governor, Mukthar Ramalan Yero, who visited the area on Friday, expressed concern over incessant attack on communities in the state, adding that communities on the state boundaries, especially those with states that have security challenges have become vulnerable to constant attacks.
The Nation gathered that the attack took place at Manyi Akuru village in Kaura Local Government Area, over 200 kilometres south of the state capital. The Director General, Media and Publicity to the Governor, Ahmed Maiyaki, quoted the governor as expressing shock over the incident, and condemned the attack, while praying that God should expose the perpetrators.
“We pray that God should expose the people that are causing this problem. We pray that God should touch their hearts to stop such dastardly acts or destroy their evil machinations.” Maiyaki said that Governor Yero, who was visibly shocked by the incident, called on the people to remain calm, as government will scale up its strategies to improve security, especially in border communities, promising that government will “look at ways of dealing with this situation, because this community is porous and we must find way to improve security.”
The government, he said has already ordered a full scale investigation into the incident
