Coach of Algeria’s national football team Djamel Belmadi has stated that the Desert Foxes were full value for the 2-1 win over Nigeria after the team progressed to the final of the ongoing Africa cup of nations in Egypt courtesy of a late Riyad Mahrez goal from a free kick late into regulation time.
Belmadi speaking after the match said in the post match presser captured by brila fm that the Nigerian team gave his side a very good test which wasn’t surprising because they were fully aware of the quality of opposition Nigeria will be for them.
He praised his players for their effort in the game and expressed joy to have to lead the group to the final of the AFCON.
“We knew that it will be a tough game because of the quality of the opponent because of the tough game we had against Ivory coast four days ago. The guys were amazing in the first half and could have scored more. And the second half we had a difficult moment. I think we played too deep.”
Algeria will now face Senegal in Friday’s Africa cup of nations final hoping to win a second AFCON title since 1990 when they won on home soil.
