Just this year, reality show Bringing up Bates was unexpectedly canceled after 10 seasons. This news came briefly after a controversial video of a Bates family member stormed social media displaying racist and inappropriate behavior.
However, the network said their decision to abruptly end the show was due to a new scripted show that they would be focusing on instead. The official statement read,
“We will not be premiering Bringing Up Bates season 11 on UPtv as planned as we will be focusing our programming in 2022 on movies and a new scripted series to be announced soon. When we premiered Bringing Up Bates, the series was focused on parents with 19 kids who were teenagers and young children. The cameras were there to capture the love, laughs and big life moments, as the family continued to grow. Thank you to Gil and Kelly Jo Bates for welcoming viewers into your family’s home over the past ten seasons. Thank you to the fans who tuned in every Thursday night to be a part of the journey. We’re looking forward to continuing to uplift you with our programming in the future.
While the show may be over, members of the Bates family are still including fans and viewers into their personal life through social media – one of those being Carlin Bates.
Carlin Bates has grown a rather large following on her Instagram, as well as her YouTube page where she films family vlogs weekly, that gives fans an inside look into her family with husband Evan Stewart and their two kids.
Among these videos, Carlin has continuously given updates about her health journey, suffering from an unknown illness that causes in and out hospital visits. More recently, a scary situation occurred that left many shocked and worried.
Over the weekend, Evan revealed that Carlin was hospitalized and asked for prayers. During a church event, the 24-year-old had “seizure-like” symptoms which caused her to pass out and hit her head. She suffered a concussion from the fall, however the cause of this still remains unknown.
In a recent YouTube video, the mother two revealed that she’s had an “underlying issue” since she was born. She also recalled the many other times that she had passed out, while opening up about the most recent incident.
She confessed that she remembered saying, “My head feels really weird,” but thought it was just the medication.
“This one gave me no warning.I just remember trying to get out of conversation, and I remember just losing it. Everything felt like it was slowing down.”
"Our pastor's wife was like, 'I literally saw your head bounce off the concrete,' " Carlin continued.
A friend in the video revealed that Carlin was having a difficult time trying to piece together words, and just remembers her falling over her son's car seat and hitting her head on the concrete.
“It’s happened a lot and it continued to get worse; seizures, passing out, everything,” Evan told viewers. Carlin added on saying, “they don’t necessarily know whether it’s my brain triggering them like epilepsy, or my heart or some other reason.”
We hope Carlin’s doctors are soon able to help the family find answers.
