Tiwa Savage Names Brandy, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido as Key Inspirations

 

Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage discussed her influences during the Berklee in Nigeria.

Tiwa Savage Intensive Music Program, which trained 100 up-coming African talents from April 22 to 26. God came first, followed by Brandy for vocals and Afrobeats icons Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido. Drawing on her own scholarship experience, the 2007 Berklee alumna established the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation this year to assist up-coming musicians. Although she has worked with all three over the years, fans' reactions ranged from celebration in some outlets to scepticism in others, wondering if references to Burna Boy or Davido were genuine amid long-standing rivalry in the scene.
